TRiO PROGRAMS

Educational Talent Search (ETS)

Upward Bound (UB)

Student Support Services (SSS)

TRiO refers to six programs (originally only three) funded under the Higher Education Act of 1965. This Title IV program is part of the series of programs in President Johnson's War on Poverty, like Federal Financial Aid. TRiO Programs are designed to encourage students to enroll in college and successfully complete degree programs. Services are available nationwide and have the potential to serve students from the 6th grade through a doctoral degree. Western Iowa Tech Community College houses three of the six programs. All services are offered at no charge to participants.

  • Student Support Services (SSS) provides assistance to qualifying students who are attending WITCC's Sioux City campus.
  • Educational Talent Search (ETS) provides assistance to qualifying students in area middle schools and high schools (6th - 12th grade).
  • Upward Bound (UB) provides assistance to qualifying students in area high schools (9th - 12th grades) and offers a unique six-week summer college simulation experience for participants.
