Policies

Chosen Name Policy

Western Iowa Tech recognizes that faculty, staff, and students may wish to identify themselves by a name other than their legal name. As a college focused on inclusivity and respect, our goal is to build an affirming campus environment where community members can be called and identified by the name they choose. Therefore, WIT has adopted a policy where members of our college community use a chosen name where possible in the course of their interactions. View the Chosen Name Policy. To select your chosen name, fill out the MyWIT form (select Edit Personal Identity).

Code of Conduct for Marketing, Recruiting, Admissions, and Financial Aid Professionals

Western Iowa Tech believes the college recruitment process should be a positive and personalized experience for all prospective learners, free from high pressure or deceptive tactics, and are committed to promoting fairness and transparency in all aspects of the recruiting and enrollment process.

Computer Conduct Policy

College computer systems are provided by Western Iowa Tech for the purpose of furthering the educational mission of the College, this includes course work, college-related educational endeavors, and business operations. Each user is expected to follow established computer conduct policies and not to interfere with or disrupt the orderly processes of WIT resources.

FERPA

Under FERPA, each student has the right to inspect and review their student records and request the amendment of inaccurate or misleading student records or request the amendment of student records to ensure they are not otherwise in violation of the student's privacy or other rights.

Free Speech Policy

Western Iowa Tech Community College establishes this Board Policy to comply with the laws of the State of Iowa and to protect speech and expression at this institution.

GDPR Policy

GDPR is a set of standards for organizations that process personal information for individuals residing in the European Union (EU).

Nondiscrimination Statement

It is the policy of Western Iowa Tech Community College not to discriminate in its programs, activities, or employment practices as outlined in their Nondiscrimination Statement.

Service Animals Policy

The ADA and Section 504 require the college to make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, or procedures to permit the use of a Service Animal by a student, faculty, staff or visitor with a disability.
