Western Iowa Tech's English Language program is a successful and proven system. Instruction is led by highly trained instructors that understand the needs of second language learners.
This program provides students with the English language and academic preparatory skills to be successful when pursuing an American college education. Students gain valuable experience in all forms of English communication while developing their academic skills in a community college atmosphere. This program includes opportunities to investigate a variety of college transfer and vocational degrees prior to beginning a program of study.
Western Iowa Tech provides students with a strong English language foundation. We intensely cover English language components including Reading Comprehension, Listening, Speaking and Written Communication. Because of its proven results, vocabulary study is an integral part of our program. Test-taking skills are also covered as part of American college preparedness. Courses include: American Culture, Projects and Presentations, Conversation and Communication, Intense Reading and Writing, and College Test Preparation.
Students gain tremendous confidence as they progress through our program. In addition to American college coursework preparation, our English language training is integrated with career specific coursework so that students are well prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the global marketplace.
TESOL scores are not required for admission to this program; English language skills assessments will be utilized for proper course placement. Students are accepted into this intensive program three times a year, at the beginning of each semester. Upon successful completion of this program, students will have learned the English language and academic skills to be successful American college students.
