Sioux City True Crime Files

Although it may seem like violent crimes and horrific homicides have been more prevalent in recent decades and occur most often in major cities, that’s not always true. Sioux City has seen its fair share of crime and murder, dating back to the late 1800s. In recent years, society has exploded with heightened levels of interest in the genre of true crime. Humans are naturally drawn to and have a morbid curiosity when it comes to tales that are "stranger than fiction." Sarah Enright, Local History Librarian Specialist at the Sioux City Public Library and a true crime fan herself, uses the library's resources, such as archived newspaper clippings, microfilm, databases, and web resources, to construct detailed narratives of local cases. This session will spotlight several historical cases that were never solved. Attendees will be encouraged to share memories, theories, and comments as the cases are discussed.
