Picturing America

A colorful look at American History via the art that America has given the world. We will see representative pictures by American Masters, telling the story of their times and discussing the styles, skills, and merits of various artists we may or may not remember today. These styles will include primarily paintings, but they also encompass some art of ornamentation and architecture.

On the journey, we will see and experience the different schools of American Art, from Colonial Art to Art Deco, American Realism to the Ashcan School of Art, from American Folk and American Gothic to Pop Art, and much more.
