
Carmen Monk BS, CMA, AAMA
Carmen Monk is a dedicated and experienced medical professional with a strong background in biology, chemistry, and medical assisting. She earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Wayne State College. Carmen earned her Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) in 1997, and she maintains this certification through ongoing continuing education.
With a broad range of experience, Carmen has worked in diverse settings, including microbiology and chemistry labs, as well as in medical offices and laboratories. Her expertise extends beyond the clinical environment, as she actively contributes to the medical assisting profession through her leadership role as President of the Siouxland Chapter of Medical Assistants, where she also manages the chapter’s Facebook page.
Carmen’s commitment to excellence in education and patient care has earned her recognition, including the Professional Achievement Award from the Iowa Society of Medical Assistants in 2018, and multiple nominations for Teacher of the Year at Western Iowa Tech Community College in 2012, 2022, and 2024. She is an active participant in both state and national AAMA conferences and serves as a delegate in the House of Delegates (HOD), further demonstrating her passion for advancing the medical assisting field.
