Amanda Heilman PTA, MHS
Amanda Heilman is a dynamic educator and physical therapist assistant with a diverse background in healthcare, education, and nonprofit business management. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art & Non-Profit Business Management from Buena Vista University, an A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant from Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC), and a Master of Health Science in Education from Washburn University.
With a strong foundation in both clinical practice and teaching, Amanda has worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and Site Coordinator of Clinical Education in a private practice setting. Since 2020, she has served as an Administrative Program Coordinator and Program Director of the PTA Program at Western Iowa Tech, where she also directs Clinical Education. In addition to her administrative role, she is an adjunct instructor for the PTA Program.
Amanda's specialized training includes courses in Universal Design for Learning, Reality-Based Leadership, and High-Performance Management. She has also participated in a variety of professional workshops and summits, including those hosted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.
An active contributor to the field, Amanda co-chairs the annual IPEC Day, a collaborative event between Briar Cliff University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program and Western Iowa Tech's PTA Program, and co-authored the IPEC Day - IPE Compendium (2024). She has also co-presented on interprofessional proficiency at the APTA Academy of Education Educational Leadership Conference.
Amanda is committed to advancing physical therapy education, with a focus on innovative leadership and interprofessional collaboration, ensuring the next generation of healthcare professionals is equipped for success.
