Nursing Assistant I (classroom and theory) and II (clinical) are co-requisite course requirements. Concurrent successful completion of these two courses, HSC-173 (three semester hours of college credit) and HSC-174 (one semester hour of college credit), meets the requirements for the 76-hour nurse aide training and students will receive four semester hours of college credit and are eligible to take the nurse aide competency exams upon completion.
Successful completion of the state test will place you on the State Nurse Aide registry. To remain on the nurse aide registry, you must work eight hours in two years at a Long Term Care Facility. If you have any questions regarding the nurse aide registry, call the DCW Registry at 515.281.4077.
One business week after completion of the nurse aide test you can go to the following website www.dia-hfd.state.ia.us to verify registry status and print your DCW card.
