More than a 1:1 Initiative

Apple technology is central to the operations of our campuses. Classrooms have been infused with technology and have redefined traditional teaching paradigms. All incoming for-credit and ABE students are equipped with MacBook computers. All staff and faculty, including over 300 adjunct instructors, are provided Apple devices best suited for their job responsibilities.

Prepared for the Pandemic

Western Iowa Tech relied on its technology-rich academic environment for a smooth transition into virtual learning during the pandemic. Because our students and employees were already equipped with personal devices and extensively trained, they were able to quickly and successfully pivot to online classes and remote work. Students with limited internet access were provided MiFis and wireless network beacons were added to campus parking lots.

Enabling Student Success

The College expanded its technology utility into the student experience. Students can now access wrap-around services such as mental health counseling, advising appointments, tutoring, and student events on their Apple devices. With the adoption of Open Educational Resources, textbooks are available electronically, saving students money.

Digital Transformation

Our digital transformation has prepared us for the twenty-first century and beyond. Apple products enhance our cyber security - they are simply safer. We have become more environmentally responsible by significantly reducing the amount of paper we use. Antiquated phone systems have been replaced with Zoom phones and AirPods Pro making connectivity fluid and no longer constrained by physical boundaries.
