The Beta Zeta Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) received several high awards at the international levels at the 2025 PTK Catalyst on April 3-5 in Kansas City, MO. The chapter also received the Most Distinguished Award in all Chapter Hallmark Categories during the regional convention on February 28, 2025, in Des Moines.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in higher education with nearly 1300 chapters on college campuses in all 50 of the United States, plus Canada, Germany, the Republic of Palau, Peru, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the British Virgin Islands, Guam, Jamaica, the United Arab Emirates and U.S. territorial possessions.
Beta Zeta Mu Chapter of WITCC received the following 2025 Distinguished Awards at the international levels:

- Distinguished Chapter (only 35 out of nearly 1300 chapters received this recognition)
- Distinguished Honors In Action Award (only 50 out of nearly 1300 chapters received this award)

- Distinguished Chapter Officer Team Award (Sharon Roslansky, Kevin Romo, Hector Vega Aceves, Jeniffer Guedes, Jose Fuentes, Alexys Meridith, Mitchell Walde, Stefani Nunez, Hannah Peterson)
- Distinguished Chapter Member Award - Israel Rodriguez
- Distinguished Advisor Team Award: Dr. Murrell, Bill Clifford, Sima Dabir
- Distinguished Administrator Award: Andrea Rohlina
- Distinguished Community College State Director: Emily Shields (Sima Dabir submitted the nomination on behalf of the BZM chapter and Iowa Region for Emily)
- Coca-Cola Gold Scholars: Kevin Romo and Hector Vega-Aceves

- Kevin Romo was recognized at the All-Iowa Academic Team in Des Monies on February 18 and February 28, 2025, as a recipient of the Coca-Cola Gold Scholarship. He will be attending Iowa State University next Fall on a full tuition scholarship.

Additionally, the PTK Iowa Region elected two WITCC students to serve as its regional officers.
