Russell Wray asked for any questions or concerns regarding the Consent items. No questions or feedback received. Derrick Franck made a motion to approved and it was seconded by Jeremy Ogle. All in favor. Motion carried.
Christina Brandon and Tawnya Beermann reported on the Enrollment for 23 Spring Semester Credit Numbers were down. We have students taking more online classes. We are very proud of our retention rate.
Christina Brandon and Mike Logan presented the Microsoft O365 A5 License Cyber Security Purchase Request. Due to the urgency of cyber security and recent spam activity. This new software will increase the protection against some ransomware threats. This will check links and attachments coming into our emails. Jeremy Ogle made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Al Aymar. All in favor and the motion was carried.
Juline Albert, Sima Dabir, and Lisa Bryan presented the Arts and Sciences Transfer Outcomes Report. Juline introduced Sima Dabir and Lisa Bryan. Sima reviewed the numbers for retention. Lisa presented the top 5 transfer schools. Sima then explained the plan to help attract the transfer student and how we would assist them in transferring to a four-year college. We have a lot of articulation programs that we are going to promote and market to.
Juline Albert and Erin Volk reviewed the Student Outcomes Comparison (IPEDS) Report. We review internal growth, across the state, and also nationwide.
Juline Albert also presented the University of Northern Iowa – Memorandum of Understanding. UNI has selected WITCC to work with our graduates to get their last two years at UNI at the WITCC tuition rate. We selected the Education program to focus on. Tricia Sutherland made a motion to approve the agreement and it was seconded by Linnea Fletcher. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Juline Albert also presented the Future Ready Iowa Programs During the 22/FA semester, 617 scholarships were given to students. The programs listed in the memo are what the state has approved. On page 2, are the selected 5 programs for local needs. Jeremy Ogle made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Blanca Martinez. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Troy Jasman presented the report to request permission to publish the Published Budget in the Sioux City Journal on February 25, 2023. Bill Anderson made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Derrick Franck. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Troy Jasman also presented the Statewide Comparison of Percentage of Revenue and Expenditures. Troy explained the statewide comparison between WITCC and the other community colleges in Iowa.
Troy Jasman presented a Vehicle Purchase Request to the Board. Troy explained the need to request the permission to Russ to purchase the vehicle right away due to availability issues. Derrick Franck made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Jeremy Ogle. All in favor and motion was carried.
Troy Jasman also presented to purchase bleachers. Jeremy Ogle made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Blanca Martinez. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Troy Jasman and Carmen Wilson presented the 260E Preliminary Agreement for Perdue Specialty Meats Co. This will help them pay for training for 120-130 new employees. Tricia Sutherland made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Al Aymar. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Troy Jasman and Carmen Wilson also reported on the 260E Preliminary Agreement for Wells Enterprises, Inc. They expect to hire 180 new employees. Question was asking if there would be a name change for Wells since they were bought out. There will be no name change for Wells Enterprises. Linnea Fletcher made a motion to approve and it was seconded by Jeremy Ogle. All were in favor and the motion was carried.
Terry Murrell introduced Revathi Vongsiprasom to give the Annual Diversity and Inclusion Report. Revathi introduced LaShawna Moyle as the new Coordinator for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department. They are working on the plan for this year. Also working on suicide response procedures.
Derrick Franck summarized the Community Colleges for Iowa report. There are notes and a PowerPoint in the Dropbox folder. The PowerPoint explains the 260E and F programs. It’s very helpful.
Terry Murrell gave his President Report. He updated us on the legislative events.
Linnea Fletcher made a motion to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Bill Anderson.
