Entrance Requirements
Successful completion of the classroom and clinical components by the LPN meets the Iowa Board of Nursing requirements for the LPN to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of practice for intravenous therapy. Completion of this course will award 43 contact hours, which equates to 4.3 CEUs. Provided by Iowa approved provider #21 upon completion of entire course.
Prerequisites
- Current unrestricted Iowa license to practice as a licensed practical nurse
- Documentation of 1040 hours of practice as a licensed practical nurse
- Practice in a licensed hospital, a licensed skilled nursing facility or a certified end-stage renal dialysis unit whose policies allow the licensed practical nurse to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy
- Facility of employment must have written policies that allow you to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy.
